Euston Rural Pastimes
Stewards Sue & Ian Lord
As we prepare for our 4th year as Stewards we have been reflecting on the popularity of this element of the Rural Pastimes Event and how it has grown. Maybe again we are set to break the record number of entries and anticipate reaching our maximum number of 400 Cars. This year we have had to order more new metal peg markers to be manufactured to accommodate the increasing number of entries and this should enable everyone to locate the cars listed in the programme more easily. In addition, we have a new section this year of Kit Cars which will be parked separately from our usual display, as they are so different.
As in previous years we are well supported by the Classic Car Enthusiasts, who come to join in the fun and when parked together create a stunning spectacle for us. This year we will have Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club, Daimler & Lanchester Club, Norfolk Vehicle Club, Kings Lynn Capri Club, Bury Retro Car Club, Newmarket and District Vehicle Club, Norfolk Austin 7 Club, Phoenix Cherished Vehicle Club, Reliant, Sabre & Scimitar Club, Stag Owners Club and the North Norfolk Classic Vehicle Club, TR Register and Wymondham Old Timers, plus many more and for the first time they will be joined by the BMW Owners Club. We are so grateful to these groups as well as all the individuals who take the time to care for these wonderful vehicles to preserve them for future generations and then bring them to share for one day, with us all.
As always, the cars will be judged to find the best Vintage Car, built before 1931 and the best Classic Car which must be over 25 years old. We will be choosing an interesting selection of Cars to go into the Grafton Ring for our special display and we will endeavour to give you interesting information and the story behind each one. Do come and join us. The owners are true enthusiasts and will be happy to talk to you about their unique vehicles as you wander up and down the rows. Do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have. Fingers crossed for a warm, sunny day, with lots of visitors, to help us raise much needed funds for St Nicholas Hospice and other charities. We wish you all a wonderful day out.
